We are sometimes contacted by families who have recently received a diagnosis of Cri du Chat Syndrome who would like to speak to someone who has been in a similar position.
The minimum we ask for this challenge is to contact the family and speak to them. We are not looking for someone to offer clinical or medical advice but merely to act as a sounding board to support the new family. You can talk about your own experiences or put them in touch with another family. Just make sure they know they are not alone and that there is a community of people out there to support them.
How to get involved?
Step 1: Sign in to your Supporters account or sign up http://criduchatsyndromesupportgroup.volunteermakers.org/
Step 2: Accept the challenge
Step 3: Email email@example.com with details of your family (age of any children, location) and your availability
Step 4: One of our committee members will be in touch to explain what is required and will provide any training that you may require before we match you with a new family who needs some friendly support.
Please note: this is a service to provide a welcome to new families and you will not be expected to provide any clincial or medical advice. We just want to make sure that every new family feels supported and has part of our community.
